Pathfinder Pledge & Law

The Pathfinder Pledge and Law is an important part of Pathfinders.  Thousands of Pathfinders each year learn and choose to abide by the requirements of the Pathfinder Pledge and Law for the sole purpose of growing closer to their fellow men and women and to their Creator.

 Pathfinder Song

Henry T. Bergh composed the Pathfinder Song, "Oh, We Are the Pathfinders Strong," in 1949.  While driving to his Sabbath appointment, he came up with the poem while thinking about the Missionary Volunteer pledge and then hummed the tune.  It was introduced conference-wide at the Pathfinder Officer's Convention in 1950 and is still used today.

  • Oh, We Are the Pathfinders Strong
  • Pathfinder Marching Song
  • Smile, You're a Pathfinder
  • We Are His

These songs are found in the document center.

Pathfinder Drill

Pathfinder clubs are encouraged to teach and practice basic drill and marching movements.  Drill and marching is an important part of the Pathfinder club.  Learning to listen and follow commands helps your club have an atmosphere where it's fun and easy to learn.  Drill encourages listening which assists with discipline.  Young people who are properly disciplined will have confidence in their own abilities and are more apt to achieve their goals.

Obtain The Pathfinder Club Drill Manual booklet, video, and/or DVD (available at SECC Youth Ministries) and teach your club the proper movements using correct commands.

Whenever possible, have your staff learn and drill with the club.  Working together will strengthen your club and help to build club unity and camaraderie.

Use drill downs, games and practice to sharpen your marching knowledge and skills.
